Quebec skiing has the flair of the French Alps, without the hassle. The
Laurentian Mountains make up the landscape for great Quebec ski areas stretching
from Tremblant to Mont Sainte Anne and Le Massif.
In the Laurentians, Mont Saint-Saveur, Owls Head, Orford and Bromont are all
classic Quebec ski areas. Mont Saint Saveur’s night skiing is the best in the
region, but if you prefer a charming Quebec chalet for après ski, there’s plenty
of Quebec nightlife and fine French dining. Laurentian ski lodging ranges from a
quaint mountainside chalet rental to ski condos, ski hotels, motels and ski and
stay bed and breakfasts. Quebec is French speaking, which adds international
charm to this ski region so close to Montréal. Quebec’s winter sports are rich
with heritage, dog sledding, ice skating and sleigh rides compliment a Quebec
ski vacation.
Tremblant is the biggest and best skiing In Quebec, this Quebec ski resorts
continues to rank #1 for luxury ski lodging, best après ski in Quebec, a great
ski village and great terrain. Tremblant’s slopeside village is bustling with
ski boutiques, Swiss fondue chalets, cafes, and ski in ski out luxury mountain
hotels. Our favorite is the Fairmont Tremblant. The base to summit Gondola at
Tremblant and the phenomenal Tremblant ski school (ski lessons with French and
English ski/snowboard instructors) make this resort easy to ski, on all three
sides. Tremblant get busy during Canadian ski holidays, and during Presidents
ski week (the US February school vacation) when all of Tremblant’s mountainside
hotels and ski condos fill up. The Canadian Lotto Quebec is building a ski
casino at Tremblant – as this ski resort continues to expand.
Another special Quebec ski vacation involves lodging in
Quebec City, and driving
to the nearby ski mountains Mont Sainte-Anne, Stoneham and Le Massif. Quebec
City’s winter carnival is the best carnival we know of, cold weather and warm
hospitality – even at Quebec’s Ice Hotel. IF you are looking for luxury lodging
in Quebec, skip the Ice Hotel and stay at Château Frontenac – they offer Quebec
ski and stay packages with lift tickets to ski Sainte-Anne, Stoneham and Le
Massif.
Mont Sainte Anne
If you prefer on mountain lodging at Mont Sainte Anne, the best ski in ski out
hotel is Château Mont Sainte Anne right at the base of the slopes and the
gondola with a heated pool and ski rentals. There are slopeside condominiums at
Mont Sainte Anne (and Stoneham) to rent for a few ski days or a ski week. Mont
Sainte Anne is a great ski vacation destination for families, with one of the
best learn to ski and snowboard programs. Sainte-Anne is also a very romantic
Quebec ski resort. Ski to the Sugar Shack, cross country ski across the Quebec
countryside to cabin in the woods (Mont Sainte Anne’s cross country center is
superb), or to a fondue lunch, then save room for 5 star Quebec dining and après
ski that turns into nightlife. The views when skiing Mont Sainte Anne of the St
Lawrence Seaway are phenomenal, and the skiing here ranges from double black
diamond to glades to gentle cruisers.
The Manoir Richelieu is a sister resort to Fairmont’s Château Frontenac, located
in Baie Saint Paul which provides ski and stay packages to Le Massif and Mont
Grand Fonds.
You have to ski Le Massif to get the sensation of skiing into the sea, as you
descend 2,000-vertical toward the mighty St Lawrence. Le Massif’s Charlevoix
trail is the training center for the Canadian ski team, one of the steepest
longest ski trails in the East. Le Massif has the best on mountain dining or any
North American ski resort. Escargot is ski lunch selection, served with a
panorama from the beautiful mountaintop ski lodge. Did we mention you start your
ski day at Le Massif at the top and ski down, a novelty!
