For a special downhill destination, The Hotel Mount Washington is
a grand and
gorgeous century-old palace with a palatial Presidential spa. Stay and ski for a weekend or an entire
ski week on an all inclusive European plan package at the historic 4 star hotel,
with skiing at Bretton Woods – NH’s largest ski area.
Bode Miller served as
Director of Skiing for Bretton Woods Ski Resort when he won all those World Cup
ski races. While nothing at Bretton Woods is super challenging or steep, there
are great long runs and even some beautiful birch lined glades. Backcountry
tours are offered with a guide if you wish to get off-piste. If you prefer cross country touring, the largest Nordic Center in NH
is here at Bretton Woods.
Other winter activities include the longest zip line canopy tour in the
contiguous US, a sure thrill. For more romantic
winter activities, take a horse drawn sleigh
ride or dog sled around the ski hotel. Take the kids ice skating or sledding. You can
even take a ride on the Cog Railway up Mount Washington, but you can’t ski down
– for that you have hike up Tuckerman’s Ravine, or take a snow coach from Great
Glens Touring Center.
Ski perfectly groomed runs with a view of Mount Washington by day, then retreat
to your snow castle for après ski and alpine glow and cocktails in the
conservatory, a spa treatment, and formal dinner and dancing in the Grand
Ballroom that evening. If you still have steam, head to The Cave for a
nightcap - this is an authentic 1920's speakeasy in the cellar of the Hotel.
The property of Mount Washington Resort, owned by Omni Resorts, has
development plans to add a pedestrian ski village, and build luxury ski
townhouses for sale in the near future, to compliment the Hotel Mount Washington
and Spa and Bretton Woods Ski Resort.
